berita2.com (Tokyo): Raksasa otomotif Toyota akan menurunkan harga hingga 30% pada seluruh produknya per 2013 untuk mengantisipasi ambisi Volkswagen (VW) dalam menguasai industri otmotif dunia.

Penurunan harga ini merepresentasikan perbedaan antara mobil-mobil Toyota dengan mobil-mobil buatan Korea, seperti Kia dan Hyundai, yang kini banyak menunjukkan lonjakan penjualan di sejumlah negara di dunia.

Menurut Senior Managing Director Purchasing Toyota, Takeshi Shirane, penurunan harga hingga 30% akan membawa harga Toyota sama dengan mobil-mobil Korea sekaligus meningkatkan pangsa pasar di sejumlah negara berkembang, termasuk China dan India.

Strategi ini dinamai RR-CI, yaitu ryohin=quality (kualitas) dan renka=low price (harga murah). Seluruh staf Toyota dari divisi teknisi, suplier, dan purchasing untuk menentukan desain 165 komponen hany dengan satu harga (single price).

"Saya berharap akhir tahun ini kami dapat mengumumkan 165 komponen tersebut yang memiliki harga yang sama," ujar Shirane, seperti dikutip Just-auto.com.
